Vacancy at the Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association

Ethiopian women lawyers created the non-profit Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), which advocates for women. It started operating in 1996 after obtaining a valid registration in 1995. With six branches in Bahir Dar, Assosa, Hawassa, Adama/Nazareth, Diredawa, and Gambella, EWLA is based in Addis Ababa. 53 trained voluntary committee members organized at the woreda and zonal levels help the branch/regional offices, which offer mechanisms to contact Ethiopian women locally.

EWLA's mission is to support women's economic, political, social, and legal rights and help them obtain full protection of their rights under the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia's Constitution and other international human rights conventions. The organization envisions a nation where women are treated equally to men.
